About Traditional GF Oats
GK Gluten Free Foods introduced Gloriously Free Oats into Australia in 2009. Uncontaminated oats received a gluten free certification in the USA in 2007. Since then customers in Australia have been eager to source uncontaminated oats. However, it is important to note that here in Australia, a product that contains oats cannot claim to be ‘gluten free’ due to current food labelling laws. Mainstream oats are predominately contaminated at the farm level where growers also process gluten containing crops such as wheat, rye, spelt or barley.
GF Oats are uniquely grown and processed in gluten free certified organic facilities, both in the USA and Australia, to ensure they maintain their uncontamination status from gluten. They are sourced from GF Harvest in the USA, grown and processed by a family who are coeliacs and understand purity protocol from planting to packaging. Oats do contain a strain of protein called Avenin, however a large body of scientific evidence accumulated over 15 years, by American universities, determined that gluten is a combination of proteins that does not naturally occur in oats. www.cureceliacdisease.org
