Native to tropical and subtropical America and the West Indies, Acerola (Malpighia glabra L.), also known as Barbados cherry, West Indian cherry, Puerto Rican cherry, and Cereza. Acerola grows on small trees or bushy shrubs, Acerola cherries are bright red or yellow-orange, cherry-sized fruits that contain small seeds. A sweet aroma and taste are present in the fruit pulp, but it is acidic.
